YJACK FAQs

1. What is YJACK Method?

The YJACK Test Method is a test method that allows MLT testing to be done more efficiently.
In summary, YJACK is a static load test, is a MLT load test, and is equivalent to conventional top-loaded test method.

2. How to classify the YJACK Test Method?

It is considered an MLT (maintained load test) and is able to similarly test the pile accurately up to the desired test load or up to failure to understand their behaviour under load.

3. Who own the world patents of YJACK?

YJACK Technology owns these patents as they are proprietary technology of YJACK and unique to YJACK Technology.

4. Has YJACK been validated by authorities?

While also receiving approval from JKR Malaysia and currently undergoing the same process in the Philippines.

As the Malaysian innovative technology, we sought validation tests with Malaysian construction authorities:
- YJACK Validated by PWD/JKR (Public Works Department/Jabatan Kerja Raya), for YJACK on bored piles (Type B)
- YJACK Validated by CREAM (Construction Research Institute Malaysia), for YJACK on concrete piles (Type C)

5. What is the platform technology of YJACK?

YJACK is partnering with GeoAli to coordinate international business for all types of pile testing services.

6. Why doesn’t the YJACK Method have steel plates?

The steel plates are removed to help improve concrete flow during concreting and reduces the risk of honeycoming or compromised concrete forming around the jack. This helps the jacks perform better, and accurately determine geotechnical capacities.

7. What is the calibration procedure of YJACK?

A magnaframe is used, and load is applied and released incrementally. This is done to ensure that transfer of pressure and translation is accurate.

8. What are the international standards to conduct YJACK?

The YJACK method is carried out in accordance with: ASTM/D1143, Sibling Standard ASTM/D8149, Singapore’s SS/CP4, Malaysia’s JKR/20800, UK FPS/Handbook.

For Malaysia JKR standard which is JKR Standard MY JKR SPJ (2018) Foundations, Pile Load Test, Clause 10.12.4.1, it is incorporated with bi-directional test method.

Three (3) days.

Accuracy achieves, but not limited to, 85%.

The YJACK can be used on foundations meant for buildings, and transportation infrastructure.

YJACK intends to be able to wirelessly transmit testing data instantly to our headquarters for analysis and report writing thereby reducing the amount of overall manpower and time required for analysis and reports.

Statnamic is a dynamic method. It is a medium strain method compared to high strain method. It is not a static test method, and it is not a MLT test (maintained load test).

In summary:
PDA (high strain) and STN (statnamic), both methods are the dynamic test method (NOT STATIC) according to ASTM/D4945 and ASTM/D7383. Both method are using same theory BUT with different impact devices:
- PDA is high strain method (using hammer impact), ASTM/D4945
- STN is pseudo PDA method (using explosive impact), ASTM/D7383

Important Note: STN is not pseudo static MLT method.

For more info, please read document Appendix A (high strain PDA System ≈ medium strain Statnamic System).
